THE STRUCTURE
The structure for indoors
The peculiarity of this Acoustic Shell for Orchestras
project is to have the greatest total autonomy with respect
to the context in which it is installed. A modular panels
system, entirely comprised of special, completely fireproof
plywood, wood sheet-essence sandwich, particularly known
for its specific qualities of high density derived from
the very compact fibre, form the sound-reflecting walls.
The acoustic ceiling is supported by a spatial structure
comprised of bearing elements, aluminium beams, hung from
the Theatre trusses above the stage with powerful but thin
winches.
This structure, thus conceived and realized, allows operations
of assembly and disassembly to be performed in very short
times, such as not to impede daily use of the stage.
Another innovative characteristic is represented by the
storage system. The Acoustic Shell, in its completeness
and compactness, can be stored in extremely reduced spaces.
The structure for outdoors
In case of outdoors assembly, the wall material used on
the outside, instead of wood, is the polycarbonate Lexan,
completely transparent, overlapped by a PVC acoustic ceiling.
These polycarbonate acoustic panels, supported by a particular
mounting system integrated with the stage, present a triple
advantage:
- they truly "play", amplifying the sound volume
and capitalising on the acoustic definition;
- they protect the orchestra in a very efficient manner,
even from any unexpected inclement weather, stopping the
dispersion of the sound mass produced and directing it
incisively toward the audience; it also favours the sound
comfort among the musicians;
- they possess an admirable aesthetic function: being
completely transparent, they do not conceal the surrounding
scenery, on the contrary, they enhance and embellish it.
The structure for historical / indoor locations
For the acoustic operations and treatment of the historical/artistic
sites which are so delicate, the material indicated and
used for the walls is the polycarbonate Lexan, overlapped
specifically by an acoustic sky in sound absorbent fabric
implemented by special auxiliary curtains placed along the
listening hall.
These polycarbonate acoustic panels present a triple advantage:
- they truly "play", calibrating the sound
volume and optimizing the acoustic definition;
- they protect the orchestra in a very efficient manner,
avoiding the dispersion of the sound mass produced and
directing it faithfully toward the audience; it also favours
the sound comfort among the musicians;
- they have an admirable aesthetic function: being completely
transparent, they neither conceal nor interfere with the
sacredness or historical authenticity of the location
which, on the contrary, they enhance and enriche.
The Advantages of the Structure
Exceptional modularity and flexibility all in proven safety;
minimum time necessary for placement in operation; agile
and compact dimensions; measured thicknesses; extremely
contained disposition of volumes in storage encumbrance.
All of this in a large integrated project which culminates
in an excellent sound response and scenic presence.
